Easy like Sunday Morning
Well, thought I'd right a little something to start the day. Last night I had a great time out with friends who are some great cooks. They both work at Wholefoods so know how to make the best meals for sure! Since I'm here in New Orleans, that of course takes it to a whole new level. Toby made crawfish etouffee and fried speckled trout. Etouffee is a Creole seafood dish typically served over rice, similar to gumbo, very popular in New Orleans and in the Cajun country of the Atchafalaya Basin if you don't know. Afterward, we sat in the courtyard just drinking and catching up while summer rain clouds approached. Framed by banana trees, the night sky and summer breeze was quite tropical and it was easy to just slip into the thought of being, well...in old New Orleans. This city is not perfect, and it can be dangerous if you are in the wrong neighborhood, but it's got a whole lot of goodness to it also. Everything good about it stands independent of any political decision, or crooked policy. The goodness is what happens when friends get together and shrug off the day and talk about football, organic food, high school friends, the desire to be able to play piano, and old Eddie Murphy songs (my girl wants to party all the time!). Technology is good for what it can do, but it is very easy to get sucked into the virtual world of code and photoshop and forget about an alternate reality, Saturday night.
What does this have to do with t shirts or messenger bags from Ichabods? NOTHING! It was my hard earned Saturday night, and for a few hours my website was the last thing on my mind:)
